The PGWM Vivian M. Kelly and Pearl Sterling Breast Cancer Committee is committed to increasing breast cancer awareness and supporting those affected by the disease. The committee raises funds to provide donations to nonprofit organizations and assist individuals and families in need. Through prevention advocacy, education, early-detection awareness, and community outreach, the committee empowers members and communities with valuable information while offering hope, encouragement, and meaningful support.

The Celestine Green Grandparents as Second Parents Committee is dedicated to supporting grandparents who have taken on the vital responsibility of raising their grandchildren. Through fundraising, education,  outreach, and access to helpful resources, the committee provides encouragement and meaningful assistance to strengthen these families. Its mission is to ensure that grandparents feel supported, valued, and equipped to create safe, loving, and stable homes for the grandchildren in their care.

The PGWM Estella Johnson and Dean Woods Alzheimer’s Committee is dedicated to supporting individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease and the families and caregivers who walk alongside them. Through          fundraising, community outreach, education, and compassionate service, the committee raises awareness,   connects families with valuable resources, and supports organizations working to improve Alzheimer’s care and research. Its mission is to bring hope, understanding, and encouragement to those affected while helping build a more informed and caring community.

The Sickle Cell Committee is dedicated to raising awareness, promoting education, and supporting individuals and families affected by sickle cell disease. According to the CDC, sickle cell disease occurs in approximately 1 out of every 365 Black or African American births, underscoring the importance of awareness and advocacy within our communities. Through fundraising, outreach, partnerships, and compassionate service, the committee provides resources, encouragement, and hope to those impacted by the disease.

The HIV/AIDS Committee is dedicated to increasing awareness, expanding community outreach, and         encouraging confidential HIV testing and early detection. The CDC estimates that 1.2 million people were  living with HIV in the United States in 2022, and approximately 13% were unaware of their status. Black or African American people represented about 12% of the U.S. population but accounted for 39% of HIV       diagnoses, highlighting the need for continued education, testing, and equitable access to care. Through    fundraising, testing initiatives, community partnerships, educational programs, and compassionate outreach, the committee works to reduce stigma, connect individuals with resources, and empower communities to   protect their health.
